Book Club

I've never been a big fan of the book club. Let me explain:) One could say I'm a genra snob. Ok, I dont think snob ever defines me but I do pretty much only read fantasy. They entertain me, they're far from reality, usually clean, and though predictible...its a format I enjoy. The idea of having to read a book every month that someone else picks just doesn't interest me. It brings me back to my High School days when teachers made us read classics like Jane Ayre, Our Town, Native Son, and the list could go on and on. I will give them props for at least covering Shakespeare which were probably the only stories I actually read my whole High School career.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. So I was invited to a book club on Facebook by a guy friend from a singles ward years back. I figured if guys are involved then maybe we'd get beyond the "Oprah" list, which I'm not a big fan of. Sure enough, our first book was "Lone Survivor", a story about a Navy Seal's fight for his life in the mountains of Afganistan. It was a great read full of adventure, moral dilema's and true heroism and I would recommend it to anyone.

Our next book is "The Irregulars" which is a spy novel about Roald Dahl, the author of books like "James & the Giant Peach" and "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory". He was a British spy along with some of his contempories such as Ian Flemming who created "James Bond". So once again we've avoided the self indulgent girl coming of age in an environment of neglect or abuse story. If we can stay on this track I might actually become a regular practicing member of an official BOOK CLUB!

my new place

Sorry this is so long in coming. Sometimes I'm a slacker at taking pictures. Ok, so I live in a townhouse about a mile away from my work. I have a nice big bedroom and share the place with two other girls. I kept wanting everything to be nice and tidy, but that's just not gonna happen. so this is my new place clutter and all...

This is the outside of the place. They're kinda like townhouse duplexes or something because each building only has two units. Parking is an issue but luckily my spot is included in my rent (at least when someone else isnt parked there...refer to previous post)

Ok, this is my new beautiful bed. I got it at the RCWilley clearance center and it was a steal. Its fun to have a few nice things in my room for a change.

Along with my beautiful bed I bought this nice big dresser. I'm not a dresser person but unfortunately I dont have much of a closet here so at least this way the clothes have a place. I still need to hang that picture, but I'm not that skilled, plus its heavy. Maybe one of these days when dad's around he can hang it for me:)

Ok here is an example of clutter on my cute desk. This is where I sit and play on my computer or pay my bills, etc.

It was kinda hard to get the kitchen/dining room into one picture. This is actually one of the biggest areas of the house. Its good to have a nice big kitchen. And believe it or not, I do a lot of cooking these days, shocking...I know:)

Dinner with my kids...

So the other night I went to dinner with some of my kids from good old Woodland Hills. It was fun to see them all grown up. Ben did a great job of organizing, hopefully next time our numbers will double.

Bridal Show

So my friend Melanie and I decided to attend the Salt Lake Bridal Fair just for kicks:) There were tons of free treats, beautiful cakes and a fun fashion show. We had a great time....and someday we'll be brides, right? (this is where you say OF COURSE!)

It might seem a little silly but we used to do this kind of stuff all the time, back in the day. I remember many an outing trying on wedding dresses and pretending one of my friends or my sisters was a bride. We always had a great time. Its like dress up for grown ups:)
